Dutch Shepherds - Grooming Requirements
Dutch Shepherds of longhaired and shorthaired coat types should be brushed weekly. The rough-coated Dutch Shepherd should be combed and taken to a groomer twice a year. The extra hair around the ears should be cut away. Bathe your Dutch Shepherd only when it is necessary in order not to make its skin too dry. Dutch Shepherds usually do well in cold climates, as they have an all weather coat. In general, Dutch Shepherds are low maintenance dogs.
Dutch Shepherds - Exercise Needs
Both physical and mental exercise is essential to keep the Dutch Shepherd fit and healthy. Dutch Shepherds are wonderful jogging companions. Running beside a master's bicycle or doing various activities in the woods or countryside is among their favorite activities. This breed is willing to work and has a natural desire to please. Regular training sessions are necessary for these versatile dogs.
Even when walking with its master, the Dutch Shepherd tends to run around him as if trying to herd. The dog takes every kind of work as a play and performs its task easily and gaily. This Dutch Shepherd's quality should be taken into consideration when training. These dogs learn quickly in the process of a play. Dutch Shepherds are highly trainable and intelligent.
